The Cal/OSHA Defense Report is a blog curated by the attorneys in Conn Maciel Carey LLP’s Cal/OSHA and national OSHA Practice, to update California employers on important developments involving workplace safety and health law issues in California.  California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health, better known as Cal/OSHA, is perhaps the most aggressive and enforcement-heavy approved State OSH Program in the nation.  California employers face a host of requirements that other employers around the country do not.  The Cal/OSHA Defense Report blog reports on a broad spectrum of issues, from Cal/OSHA enforcement trends, to rulemaking, and significant decisions by the California Occupational Safety and Health Appeals Board.

The authors of the blog are the attorneys from Conn Maciel Carey’s Cal/OSHA and national OSHA Practice, including:

  • Andrew Sommer (Managing Partner of Conn Maciel Carey’s San Francisco Office and Head of the firm’s Cal/OSHA Practice)
  • Fred Walter (Of Counsel in Conn Maciel Carey’s Cal/OSHA Practice)
  • Megan Shaked (Cal/OSHA Associate)
  • Eric J. Conn (Co-Founding Partner and Chair of the firm’s national OSHA Practice)
  • Other attorneys from the firm’s national OSHA Practice

Our OSHA practice group stands out for its deep bench of attorneys with a singular focus on workplace safety law and who have personal connections with the key players within OSHA and Cal/OSHA. Despite the firm’s “boutique” size, as an OSHA practice, we have the deepest bench of true OSHA-specialist attorneys and professionals in the entire country. As a result, the firm’s national OSHA practice group has unique insight not only into OSHA and Cal/OSHA law, but also into the workplace safety agencies across the country.
